Shezmu Takes Second!

On March 7th, Brewminary Merlin U Ward competed in the friendly, inaugural Coney Island Homebrew Competition at Peggy O'neil's, taking second with his American Amber Ale, Shezmu. Also competing in the competition was newly joined Brewminary, Grayson Powell, with his fig infused Belgian Wheat, Deuce & Zeus - Forbidden Wheat.

Shezmu was intended as a Spring beer, despite the recent NYC weather. It had a smooth malty base accentuated by piney and citrus hops. The crowd enjoyed the flavor and it reported gave the winner of the People's Choice Award, a deliciously balanced lavender ale named Lavendula, a run for its money! The Brewminaries want to make our winner's beer available to everyone, so we're posting the recipe. You can download the PDF or view the notes below.
